3 (TRES) by Uruguayan director Pablo Stoll Ward will be the opening film of World Cinema Amsterdam 2012. Due to films as 25 Watts (2001) and Whisky (2004), Pablo Stoll Ward has been a leading figure in Latin-American cinema for years. His most recent film, 3, in which he inimitably links humour to the occasionally tragic lives of his characters, is definitely a worthy successor.

World Cinema Amsterdam is looking for enthusiastic people who want to join the festival reporter team during the festival as a writer, photographer or video journalist along with others.

Besides the familiar main locations Rialto and Marie Heinekenplein, this year our films will also screen in De Balie and at the Vondelpark Open Air Theatre.

With 'Brazilian Stories', the festival pays special attention to the recent independent cinema from Brazil.
