The audience of World Cinema Amsterdam 2012 has chosen the film Rebelle by Canadian director Kim Nguyen as best film.
The director wins € 7,500 for the realization of his next project. Rebelle beats the Brazilian movies Xingu that finished in second place and As hiper mulheres on a third place. Rebelle is released by distributor Imagine in Dutch cinemas from 24 August.

According to the jury, Rebelle is a successful love story displayed against the backdrop of war. The subject, life in rebel camps, which usually leaves a feeling of unrest among the public, however, highlights the hopes of a continent for peace.
